British Embassy Officials Visits NIES Seeking Future Cooperation

On the morning of March 1, Ms. Lucy Watkins, Counselor of the Culture and Education Section of British Embassy in China, Deputy Director China British Council paid a friendly visit to NIES with her team members to exchange information in respective working fields and to seek possible future cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Dr. Liu Jianfeng, Vice-president of the NIES, welcomed the delegation on behalf on the NIES. He briefed the visitors about the history, main functions, and research areas of NIES, highlighting the institute’s efforts for internationalization. Mrs. Lucy Watkins expressed appreciation for the opportunity to visit NIES and introduced their work in the cultural and education section. Mrs. Susan Milner, First Secretary (Education) and British Council Director Education China, presented an overview of Sino-UK educational exchange and cooperation in areas of knowledge exchange, research and innovation under the framework of general agreements between two national governments, followed by elaboration on work in the areas of higher education, school-links, education marketing, English language teacher development and exams services of the British Council. The participants from the NIES side, including department directors and senior researchers shared information on their on-going projects in the areas of the higher education center, basic education center, international and comparative center, educational inspection and evaluation center, the English language center and the teacher development center.

It is acknowledged by both parties that the meeting was informative, efficient and successful. They also agreed upon further discussions on possible cooperation in the future.
