ACER Expert Holds Seminar on Large-scale Assessment at NIES

On the afternoon of May 9, Dr. Wolfram Schulz, Research Director of Australian Council for Educational Research, was invited to make a presentation to researchers in NIES on the large-scale assessment work at ACER.

Vice president Dr. LIU Jianfeng met with Dr. Wolfram before the presentation. He briefed the visitor about NIES and recalled the friendly relationship between NIES and ACER.

As a leading expert in education evaluation, Dr. Wolfram has ample experience in large-scale investigation project development and implementation. In his presentation, he introduced the main research areas in ACER and focused on the international and national large-scale assessment work in his institution, particularly their participation in the Programme for International Student Assessment of OECD, the International Civic and Citizenship Study and the International Computer and Information Literacy Study of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement, and the National Assessment Program in Australia. He also elaborated on study design and development, instrument development, data collection, processing and reporting. Finally, he spoke about problems encountered in project design and implementation and suggested solutions to them.

The presentation was widely attended by NIES researchers and Dr. LIU Jianfeng chaired the event.
