The 2nd Belt & Road Education Dialogue is held in Beijing

The 2nd Belt & Road Education Dialogue – organized by the National Institute of Education Sciences (NIES) – was held in Beijing on November 24, 2018. China’s Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun addressed the opening ceremony. Approximately 200 people – including educational officials, experts and scholars – from nearly 40 countries and international organizations attended the meeting.


Under the theme “Research, Policy-making and Prospects”, the conference focused on national policy-making and development strategies. The participants discussed cooperation and exchanges in education in the Belt and Road Region. They also explored priority areas and ways to carry out more educational exchanges and cooperation for mutual benefits.


Cui Baoshi, President of the NIES; Piotr Stankiewicz, President of the National Academy of Education, Poland; and Ou Minxing, a representative of the UNESCO Beijing Cluster Office, gave opening remarks.. Yin Changchun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the NIES, chaired the opening ceremony. Eight experts and scholars from countries such as China, Albania, Malaysia, Israel and Bangladesh gave keynote presentations.


Panel sessions were held on topics such as “Education Modernization & National Development”, “The New Round of Technological Revolution & Education Reform” and “Paths and Models to Improve Education Equity and Quality”. The framework of “The Belt and Road Education Collaboration 2030” was deliberated and the Belt and Road Education Research Network was established during the meeting.
