The 4th Southeast Asia-China Education Research Network Meeting is opened in Guilin

The 4th Southeast Asia-China Education Research Network Meeting, co-sponsored by National Institute of Education SciencesNIES, ASEAN-China CenterACC and Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), and organized by Guangxi Normal University, was held in Guilin, Guangxi on December 4, 2017. Representatives from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and other countries were in attendance.

Wang Yan, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, NIES, presided over the meeting. Ms. SEAMEO; Ms. Zhang Jing from the Asian-China Center; and Sun Jieyuan, Vice President of Guangxi Normal University addressed the opening ceremony. With a special focus on the topics of policies, practices and challenges in university enrollment and teacher development, the representatives shared information on established policies, progress, existing issues and potential cooperation among their countries. Associate Research Fellow Wu Xiangrong from the NIES attended the meeting and made a presentation on university enrollment policies in China.

The representatives reached a consensus on the formulation and publication of reports on policies, practices and challenges in university enrollment and teacher development.

They agreed that the meeting had increased understanding on education among countries, facilitated a consensus on issues of common concern at a regional level, and contributed to the improvement of education in different countries and regions.
