Andreas Schleicher, Director of Education and Skills at the OECD visited the National Institute of Education Sciences on the afternoon of September 18, 2017.
Yin Changchun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the NIES, extended him a warm welcome. During the meeting, they reviewed cooperation between the NIES and the OECD over the past few years and explored potential areas for future cooperation. Schleicher briefed on the OECD’s latest work progress, including early childhood education research and studies on social emotional skills. Secretary Yin noted that the NIES had worked with the OECD on the translation and publication of the Chinese version of Education at a Glance: OECD Indicators for seven consecutive years – he said this cooperation helped China draw upon the successful experiences of education development in other countries and contributed to education exchanges and development in China and the world.
The two sides agreed to seek more effective ways for cooperation in areas of shared interest. Dr. Wang Yan, Director for the Department International Cooperation, and Ms. Xu Hui, from the Department of International Cooperation, also attended the meeting.
