IEA Secretary-General visits NIES

  On the morning of March 7, 2016, Dirk Hastedt, Secretary-General of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) and Liang Guancheng, a professor at Hong Kong University’s Faculty of Education visited the NIES.

  Both the institute’s president, Tian Huisheng and vice president, Liu Jianfeng extended a warm welcome to the visitors. The former reviewed the history of cooperation between NIES and IEA, and introduced the latest work of NIES. Hastedt spoke about the work of IEA, and said he hoped both sides could resume and enhance cooperation. Tian responded that NIES, as the IEA’s representative organization in China, stood ready to work more with the association and to learn from its international experience. Professor Liang shared information on Hong Kong’s participation in IEA projects.

  After the meeting, Hastedt held a lecture at the institute titled “IEA & the International Trend of Education Assessment”.
