Professor Richard Freeman from the UCL Institute of Education Visits NIES

Under the 2015 Project of Education Research Methods Optimization and Techniques Elevation sponsored by State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, Professor Richard Freeman of the UCL (University College London) Institute of Education visited the NIES from June 7th to 12th for an academic exchange. Vice-President Dr. Liu Jianfeng met with Prof. Freeman and expressed his desire that both parties could develop substantial cooperation in research in fields of shared interest to promote the educational development in both countries. On June 10th, Prof. Freeman presented a paper entitled, “UCL Institute of Education: Leading Educational Research”, which introduced the institute’s research methods, their development, current problems and challenges, and responses on questions from researchers of the NIES. On the morning of June 12th, Prof. Freeman gave another lecture, The British Doctorate: A Century of Change, which briefed participants on the origin, development and status quo of British doctoral education. Prof. Freeman also had separate meetings at several NIES research centers, including the Research Center for International and Comparative Education, the Research Center for Special Education and Psychology, and the Research Center for Information and Statistics. Under the coordination of the NIES, Prof. Freeman visited the Institute of Higher Education Research of Beijing Normal University and the Association of Chinese Higher Education Research.
