Ministry of Education entrusted the NIES with the task of compiling The 13th Five-Year Plan for National Education (Academic Version). The president of the NIES highlighted this as the institute’s priority focus for the year and took personal leadership of the project. With the support of NIES research centers, outstanding researchers were selected to form a work group. A draft of the Plan included three supporting research reports was completed after a half year of dedicated work. To improve the quality of the Plan draft and the reports, the NIES held an expert consultation meeting in June and invited leading experts and academics to discuss the draft’s top-level design, structure, and key points. Valuable ideas and suggestions were brought up during the meeting, which are the foundation for the revision and optimization of subsequent versions.
