NIES Implements UNESCO Project “Promoting Quality Learning through Enhanced Multi-grade Teaching in China”

In March 2014, the UNESCO Bangkok office entrusted the NIES with a research project entitled “Promoting Quality Learning through Enhanced Multi-grade Teaching in China”. The project was part of a UNESCO Bangkok initiative which sought to create a supportive policy environment for improving multi-grade teaching through policy dialogue, advocacy and knowledge management. The overall objective of the project was to examine current practice concerning multi-grade teaching in China and identify evidence-based policy options for increasing instructional quality. The project comprised two parts: a policy review and a field survey. Two counties in Gansu Province were selected to conduct field surveys. After much effort, the NIES’ taskforce completed this project in March 2015, and delivered a policy review report and field survey report.
