At the invitation of Dr. Witaya Jeradechakul, Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Secretariat Office, Dr. Liu Jianfeng, Vice-President of the NIES participated in the 2nd SEAMEO and ASEAN-China Centre(ACC) Coordination Meeting and the 36th SEAMEO High Officials Meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 17-19 February 2014.
On February 17, 2014, Dr. Liu Jianfeng and Dr. Wang Yan, Director of Department of International Cooperation of the NIES attended the 2nd SEAMEO-ACC Coordination Meeting, discussed the issues related to the joint project entitled “Establishment of Education Research Network and Development of Resource Guide on Education Systems and Reforms in Southeast Asia and China”, and consensus was reached in terms of project goals, strategies and outcomes.
On February 19, 2014, Dr. Liu Jianfeng participated in the 36th SEAMEO High Officials Meeting as an observer. The representatives for the meeting came from the SEAMEO’s member states of such as Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, East Timor, and Vietnam as well as the SEAMEO’s associate partners like Australia, Canada, French, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and Spain.
Mr. Tri Purnajaya, Director for Education Culture and Tourism, ASEAN-China Centre and Mr. Wang Daoyu also participated in the aforementioned meetings. During their stay in Bangkok, the representatives from both NIES and ACC also visited UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, SEAMEO Regional Center for Higher Education and Development (RIHED) and the Thailand Research Fund (TRF).
