The 2022 Sino-Russian Education Science Forum Held Successfully

On November 1-2, the China National Academy of Educational Sciences (CNAES) and the Russian Academy of Education (RAE) held the 2022 Sino-Russian Education Science Forum online. Topic of discussion focused on “Scientific Support for the Education System Development”.

Cui Baoshi, President of CNAES, pointed out in his speech that the topic of this forum highlights the relationship between research and governance, research and development, and this discussion is of significance practically and historically for promoting the dialogue between Chinese and Russian educational think tanks and serving the reform and development of education in both countries. He further emphasized that educational research should aim at meeting the major strategic needs of the country, making the education policy more scientific, legal and democratic. It should play a supporting, driving, and leading role in educational reform and development.
Olga Yurievna Vasilyeva, President of RAE, pointed out in her speech that educational research is the driving force of educational reform, and the RAE plays a leading role in educational research in Russia. She believes that this forum has provided direction and a clear path for cooperation between the two countries in relevant research fields. Svetlana Yurievna Orlova, Chairperson of the Women’s Council of the China-Russia Friendship, Peace and Development Committee, pointed out that Russia attached great importance to Sino-Russian cooperation in education science research, and expected to take this forum as an opportunity to establish a long-term cooperative partnership with the CNAES.

Around the theme of the forum, more than 20 Chinese and Russian scholars discussed topics related to the development of education quality assurance system, the transformation of education and teaching in the digital era after the pandemic, the cultivation of children’s extracurricular education and innovative ability, the innovative development of vocational education, and the psychological study on learning pressure. The two-day seminar was rich in content and interactive. Experts from both sides agreed that the content discussed in this forum covered not only the key issues of educational theories and policies of China and Russia, but also the common challenges facing the two countries, which benefits each other. Strengthening research exchanges between the two institutions is important to broaden their research horizons and further improve their scientific research level and advisory ability. Both sides agreed to promote joint research in the future.

Chief Scientific Secretary of the Presidium of the RAE, Ivanova Svetlana Veniaminovna, President of Moscow State Pedagogical University, Aleksei Vladimirovich Lubkov, and Vice President of the CNAES, Wang Ming, addressed at the closing ceremony of the forum. Hundreds of educational and scientific researchers from universities and research institutions in the two countries watched the broadcasting.
